PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

Once you have completed (at least) eight practice sessions, you’re ready to play! Check off this hole and proceed to the golf course.

COMPLETE EIGHT PRACTICE SESSIONS

Schedule Time

You've come this far, don't stop now!  Pull out your calendar and schedule time to practice.  Consider swapping out time at the gym for time on the practice range.  You'll definitely burn calories if you power hit a few buckets of balls!

If you're a busy mom, think about fitting in practice at a local park while you wait for your kids to finish their activities.  Better yet, enroll them in golf lessons and practice during their clinics.

Need a break from sitting at your desk?  Squeeze in five minutes of putting practice every hour on the hour one day this week.  With a little creativity, you can find 45 minutes here and there to practice your swing. Pretty soon, you'll start to see everything click.

Where to Practice

Most public golf courses have practice areas.  They can range from double decker, fully-lit hitting bays to a small area protected by a net.  A complete practice facility will have a full swing driving range hitting off grass or artificial turf mats, a short game area to practice hitting chip and pitch shots onto the green, a bunker to work on sand shots, and a putting green with multiple holes.

Your first stop at a driving range is the pro shop where you will "rent" a bucket of RANGE BALLS or buy a token for a machine that will dispense balls into a bucket.  (Range balls are recycled and used specifically for practicing your full swing and short game shots.)  The staff will retrieve the balls so you can hit to your heart's delight.  The balls you purchase to own can be used to practice putting; you only need a few.

Find a Buddy

Practice can be more fun with a friend!  Visit the Women on Course MEMBER DIRECTORY to search for and invite other new and learning players to join you for a practice session.  Make it social with a bite to eat afterwards!
