What to Wear Now
One of the best innovations in golf fashion for women has been the introduction of the Golf Dress. For years we’ve stepped onto the tennis court in a variety of dresses, but the concept alluded designers of golf wear until recently. This spring try a functional and chic dress that will follow your moves on and off the course – perfect over a bathing suit as well as into the clubhouse after a round.
Two of our favorites are the adorable polo halter and short sleeve dresses from Green Tee Apparel. These flattering dresses skim the body and are made from nanotech performance fabric that wicks away moisture. See these and other styles at a Women on Course Event this spring.

‘Fore’ Play on the Golf Course
Golf is anything but a smoky bar and definitely where the boys are! It’s one sport that men and women can play together. The pace of the game allows for casual conversation and an ideal place to find out what your date is really like. Dating is tough at the best of times. So before you say yes to dinner and a movie, I suggest you ‘play around’ on the golf course, and see what it reveals.
- Keep your cool. We all know golf can be an extremely frustrating game at times. Try your best to put that aside and behave. There’s no better way to turn off a potential golf mate than blowing up in a fit of rage when you send your ball for a swim.
- Read the signals. A round with your guy can be very telling, so pay attention and observe how he handles himself. Chances are these traits will translate to your relationship. Does he swap out his Titlest for a ‘water ball’ when facing a hazard? Show a sense of humor when he goes into the sand. If your date takes a bunch of mulligans during the game, you have to wonder how many ‘mulligans’ he might take with you.
- Have Fun! Even if you sense things are not going to work out between you and your partner, enjoy the beauty of your surroundings and work on your game. That’s the bonus of a golf date in the first place. And if you hit it off, you’ve found a passion you can share for rounds to come.

Performing Well Under Pressure
Did you ever watch a great performance of someone you truly admire and wondered how they always seem to be so perfect under pressure? How do they keep so calm?
Well, it may be interesting to know that this is not always the case. The greatest performers in the world have been known to have the worst cases of butterflies in their stomachs and even flaws in their performances. The better you become at what you do the more pressures you tend to put upon yourself. It is how we handle pressure when it sneaks up on us that makes us great. Golf can put pressures on us in all kinds of ways. How can we play to our best even when our hands are shaking?
When playing well try not to keep it up. This only makes pressures rise. Instead, only think of one shot at a time. The same applies to not playing well. Do your best or try to do better with each shot. Do not keep thinking of the last shot. Once a shot is executed it is done. Get over it!
Breathe slowly and deeply before each shot to relax. If you are on the first tee and extra nervous don't worry about your form. Adrenaline can give you extra power, so hit the heck out of it!
If you make a mistake keep going. The recovery can be more impressive than trying to make a perfect shot.
Remember, nervousness is a sign of caring. The day you don't get nervous over an important performance is the day you should quit. Try to practice these tips the next time you feel pressure and see how much better you do.

WOC - Food for Thought
Let the beverage cart roll by when you crave a candy bar or chips, and pack a healthy snack instead. Reap the benefits of cheddar cheese bars the next time your energy wanes on the back nine. Cheddar provides eight essential nutrients that women need every day including protein, which is important for building and repairing muscle, as well as keep the edge off hunger. Cheese is also an excellent source of calcium. According to the National Academy of Sciences women aged 19-50 should consume 1000 mg of calcium daily.
We suggest the portable, course-friendly individually wrapped portions of Cabot Reduced Fat Cheddar. Each 3/4 oz. bar has 150mg of calcium. After golf, try a quick & easy recipe for Baked Pasta Shells that's loaded with protein. |
